Joel P. (“Chip”) Carmichael, DACBSP®
Dr. Joel (“Chip”) Carmichael became a chiropractor because of the remarkable, immediate pain relief and long-term performance benefits he experienced from chiropractic care as a middle school and high school athlete. Those benefits shaped his desire to become a chiropractor, and to serve not only those with spinal conditions, but also sports injuries.
Graduating at the very top of his class from Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis in 1985, Dr. Carmichael earned Diplomate status in 1996 from the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (the ACBSP®). He later served several terms as a board member, and has served as its Vice President. He was the team physician for a local Denver High School for 15 years, and he has treated many elite collegiate, high school and professional athletes in his 33 years in clinical practice. Dr. Carmichael has served as a member of the Manual Medicine committee of the American Back Society and held memberships in both the North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Pain Management. Until he began traveling to cover athletes at international events he has worked in clinic with fellowship-trained spine surgeons (both orthopedists and neurosurgeons) in the management of back pain, neck pain and complex spinal disorders. Uniquely, Dr. Carmichael is the second chiropractor in the United States to complete a one year residency in a medical hospital. Further, he is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Colorado School of Medicine | Anschutz Medical Campus, with research interests in orthopedic rehabilitation and sports injury prevention. He has lectured nationally and internationally, has published and presented numerous scientific articles including research on concussion, sacroiliac joint pain, foot biomechanics, sports injury management, a chapter on elbow, hand and wrist injuries for a sports medicine textbook, and spine pain.

Meagan Boudreaux – Nunnelly, L.Ac, M.S.O.M
, Dr. Boudreaux explored several adventurous avenues before discovering acupuncture as her destined profession. She guided white water rafters in Buena Vista, led mountain bikers and climbers in Moab and even started her own triathlon club at Metropolitan State College. A two-time recipient of the Jesse Bollinger Athletic AchievementScholarship, Meagan was also a mogul skier for the Steamboat Springs Freestyle Ski Team. It was after an injury there that she unearthed new trails toward healing through massage, physical therapy, chiropractic work and acupuncture. With the arrival of her god-daughter from China, her studies in Health Sciences at Metro State, a burgeoning interest in eastern philosophies, and a job as a chiropractic assistant with East West Health Center, Meagan found her path, enrolling at the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
There, she studied Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology, worked at the school’s Chinese Herbal pharmacy and continued to observe at the health center, far exceeding the school field work requirements. After graduating in 2004 with a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine, Meagan traveled alone to Harbin, a province in Northern China to continue her studies in acupuncture, gynecology, and Tui Na massage, gathering techniques and wisdom from local practitioners. Meagan is always broadening her knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine as it relates to common medical issues. She studied with fertility specialist Randine Lewis, PhD in Texas, Pediatrics and TCM with Michelle Uthoff – Campbell, and received her certificate in Facial Rejuvenation with Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs in New York with Virginia Doran, M.Ac., L.Ac., LMT. Most recently she studied Sports Medicine with Matt Callison and is currently enrolled in a year long Sports Medicine apprenticeship program with Whitfield Reaves in Boulder, CO. Before the birth of her two girls, she was a teaching assistant at the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine and led meditation groups for Camp Experience, (a mountain retreat for women).
Since establishing her own practice, Meagan has treated hundreds of patients, providing solutions for musculoskeletal pain, digestive health, women’s health, insomnia and much more. With an effervescent personality and a dedication to her craft, she often brings principles of her personal yoga practice along with spiritual wealth of wisdom and inspiration to her treatment. Meagan says acupuncture allows her to work in a safe and replenishing environment, “create” every day and remain true to her own health, while helping others understand the benefits of this time-honored healing tradition.
