Custom Orthotics

It fits like a glove! That’s what a custom orthotic should feel like. And, it should solve the problem as intended. That’s the goal of the chiropractors at The Center for Spine Pain. We match your needs to the right orthotic technology.

Our clinical director, Dr. Joel P. Carmichael, DC spent 3 months of his hospital residency in St. Louis in the mid-1980’s with a world-renowned podiatric surgeon, Dr. Alan Jacobs, DPM. Dr. Craig Kozak, DC spent time with Dr. Edward Glaser, DPM and others during his residency to combine orthotic therapy and modification, rehabilitation, and manual therapies. During these rotations, our chiropractors have obtained an advanced biomechanical understanding of the foot and the correction of many disorders using corrective custom orthotics.

One technology The Center for Spine Pain uses employs a unique weight-bearing force-plate analysis of gait called the 3DO System. This ensures that an accurate understanding of foot mechanics is obtained in the upright, weight-bearing position, where forces most detrimentally impact the foot.

The Sole Supports orthotic technology we also use employs a unique gait-based casting process that produces an orthotic that supports the foot along its entire length. This is an especially good option for people who have not been comfortable in other orthotics.

The third technology comes from Xtreme Footwerks right here in Colorado. A very detailed evaluation of alignment and other issues of the foot and rest of the entire leg is used in combination with the 3DO system to produce an orthotic that is fine tuned for special needs.

All the custom orthotics produced at The Center for Spine Pain have been used by athletes all over the world, including elite runners, professional tennis players, and Olympic athletes. Our orthotics have stood the test of time in some of the most demanding conditions imaginable.

Custom orthotics are an important consideration in patients with chronic back pain, scoliosis, foot / knee / hip pain, and in athletes involved in running or lifting sports. If your pain is worse when you're up and about, custom orthotics may be the missing piece of your recovery.

All orthotics are not created equal and we'll use the one appropriate for your case.  We won't simply jam your foot in the only thing we have!
